Discover the Ghost Train Trails!
Nine locations. Nine ghostly tales. One mysterious journey along the Calder Valley Line.
Have you ever wondered what spooky stories, mysterious legends and ghostly tales are hiding in the towns and villages along the Calder Valley Line?
This Halloween, the Calder Valley Line Community Rail Partnership (CVL CRP) is excited to introduce Ghost Train Trails β a creative new project bringing local ghosts, myths and legends to life through storytelling, illustration and rail travel.
Whether you’re a fan of spooky stories, fascinated by local history or simply looking for something different to do, there’s a mysterious tale waiting to be discovered!
Bringing local legends to life
Ghost Train Trails has been created through a collaboration between Calder Valley Line Community Rail Partnership, Calderdale College students, Phoenix Radio and Howard Priestley.
Phoenix Radio staff have created audio stories exploring ghosts, myths and legends from across the Calder Valley, while talented Calderdale College students, working alongside Howard Priestley, have brought these tales to life through their creative illustrations.
Together, these stories and illustrations have been brought into a specially designed trail map, connecting nine locations along the Calder Valley Line.
The project has been made possible thanks to funding from Northern and Community Rail Network, whose support has helped bring local folklore to life and create an engaging new way for people to explore the Calder Valley by train.
Ghost Train Trails celebrates local heritage, young creative talent and the power of community collaboration, while encouraging people to discover the fascinating places and stories along their local railway.
