The New Pioneers Men’s Lab kicked off their first outing of the year with a heartfelt visit to Halifax, braving the drizzle with big smiles and even bigger curiosity. For this close-knit group, it wasn’t just about the destination — it was about connection, discovery, and the simple joy of spending time together.
Travelling by Northern, the group enjoyed a smooth, friendly journey into the heart of the Calder Valley. First stop: the iconic Piece Hall, where they explored the Visitor Centre and dived into the rich history of Halifax and its textile heritage.
Here’s what a few of the participants had to say:
Khalid: “I got a good knowledge of the history of Halifax and the textile industry from the Piece Hall Visitor Centre. The Northern train was relaxed, comfortable and friendly.”
Murkesh: “I enjoyed the whole trip, including the company and the travel.”
Mohammed: “I enjoyed the Visitor Centre the most. Loafers café/record shop has the best hot chocolate ever!”
Duane Murphy: “Even the weather didn’t stop us – we made the most of a great afternoon out. We were determined to have a trip away, no matter the weather.”
After warming up with hot drinks and good chats at Loafers Café, the group returned home feeling refreshed, more connected, and excited for what’s ahead.
These kinds of outings are about more than sightseeing — they provide space for positive wellbeing, social inclusion, and the chance to discover the gems along our community rail line.
